I love flying drones and the fact I get paid flying them to get aerial footage of real estate listings and farms still blows my mind.
I’m Victor Wood and I fly drones for fun and earn part of my living doing.
I’m a real estate agent turned drone pilot for real estate agents.
A picture tells a thousand words. A video speaks volumes. When it comes to showcasing a luxury property, nothing does it better than adding some aerial footage to a property video.
Seriously, if you’re a real estate agent and you have luxury listings, step up your marketing videos with some drone footage. They can sell a house like nobody’s business.
I got into drones when I was a real estate agent. I remember it clearly; the day I landed my most expensive listing ever ($8 million USD). The place was spectacular and worth every penny. I was excited to market it and wanted to do something special. I hadn’t been an agent long, so landing such a listing was amazing.
This was 4 years ago, which was before drones really took off (excuse the pun). I bit the bullet and bought a drone that could accommodate a Go Pro camera. I went to work getting plenty of amazing footage (after a lot of trial and error learning to fly the drone).
I was familiar with video editing having done quite a few walk-through videos up until then, so I simply weaved in drone footage at the beginning and end of my usual walk-through video.
The result: An incredible real estate property marketing video that sold the listing inside eight weeks.
While I had decent success as a realtor, I fell in love flying drones. I had some colleagues in the office get me to do some drone videos for them. Before long, I was able to charge for the footage and then the day came I was spending more time flying drones for other real estate agents than selling homes.
I made the leap to full time drone pilot for agents and haven’t looked back.
This is not my business site; instead it’s my blog where I write about and showcase everything drone-related.
I hope you find it helpful. Maybe you’ll get bitten with the drone bug too. It’s great fun, both as hobby and for earning a living.
